Lollypop Lady
Feel like a lollipop lady
lop lop lop lop lollipop
stop stop stop stop stop!
Standing still with post aloft
One arm out, an L shaped prop
holding back the flow of cars
like Moses waving his hand
as the Red Sea parts.
So many people waiting there
to be ferried across the road
lop lop lop lop lollipop
stop stop stop stop stop.
Luminous green clad head to toe
high vis strips its go go go
Try to be patient, try to wait
there’s a time and a place
No need to be late
Just find the gaps,
sensibly...sensibly...sensibly...go!
Can’t run out into the road
when the traffic is heaving, weaving
but once in a while, stretching out
lop lop lop lop lollipop
someone kind will screech to a halt
stop stop stop stop stop!
