Coventry Angel
An Aikido teacher from up north
To Coventry was sent forth.
In his piebald hakama and ghi
He taught the brave with zest and glee.
The halls of post-war architecture
Echoed with the sounds of his lecture -
Enough to stir Epstein's Angel's glance
To watch the flowing martial dance.
From high up on Cathedral wall
He (by the sensitive) was heard to call:
"I was cast here as this post-war sentry
To remind the people of this town Coventry,
That like a phoenix from ash, with wings full grown
Can new life arise, and a new course be flown".
"Oh happy are you children of black
and white
For your ki is joyful, your path is bright.
Your fight is not to destroy nor harm -
Your fight is the art of harmony born"
