Susan "Susan" came for treatment in April 1999 after suffering for 3 years with debilitating migraines (which kept her bedridden for 2 or more days at a time). She had been prescribed beta blockers which reduced the frequency of the attacks, but didn't stop them. Susan was also taking Prozac for depression. During Susan's first session it became clear that she was very sensitive to the dynamics of EFT, as she became nauseous and faint within a few minutes of the treatment beginning. Consequently, I did very little energetic work on the first day (although the treatment had allowed some feelings of sadness to surface which she wanted to talk about). Susan could only tolerate a further 10 minutes of therapy on both the second and third days, as again she quickly felt lightheaded. However, I was able, despite the short duration of the sessions, to start to help her clear some distortions in the field around the sacral area, L1, C7 and the back of the neck. On the last day I was able to continue the treatment for 20 minutes, concentrating on the same areas as before. After the treatment Susan was very thirsty and lost her appetite for milky breakfasts, starting to eat fruit instead of cereal. For a few days she would suddenly feel so tired she would have to rest. During the treatment process, Susan had become aware of feelings of guilt relating to the time of her mother's death and for a short while she felt melancholy and sad while these thoughts and memories remained with her. However, within a few weeks her thirst returned to normal, her mood lightened, and she felt more energised. Susan has not had a migraine since this treatment.
