Mary

"Mary" is a 61-year-old lady who has been troubled with headaches for 33 years. Diagnosed 10 years ago as "classic migraines", they would be so debilitating she would have to go to bed because of the pain and the nausea. Mary also suffers from various dietary intolerances, predominantly involving dairy foods.

Mary came for EFT in August 2000. Initially the field around her head was very congested with little natural flow, and this was compounded with marked constrictions in the energy around the throat in the front and the seventh cervical vertebrae at the back. As this started to free up as the sessions progressed, Mary was able to recall how much emotional suppression she had experienced as a young child. There had been a strong familial emphasis on "coping" and "a stiff upper lip", with any display of anger being feared and greatly disapproved of. On the last day there was a lot of stagnant energy released from the lungs, which is usually associated with sadness or grief.

During the next 4 months, the intensity of Mary's headaches diminished greatly and they were of a much shorter duration when they did occur. Mary also noticed that there was a significant reduction of the tension in her back, neck and shoulders, with a noticeable improvement in the flexibility of these areas. Her tendency to become weak-legged and light-headed if she went without food for too long, with a corresponding craving for food, had disappeared and a troublesome skin rash had also gone. Further insights into how her childhood experiences had impacted her emotionally and psychologically continued to emerge. Mary returned in December for a second course of therapy and since then has improved to the extent that she now feels no tension at all in her head, neck or shoulders. She has not had to take any Migraleve since she started having EFT and has started to eat foods that previously triggered her migraines, with no ill-effects.
