Animals: Oscar Oscar tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) when he was just 17 months old. We had suspected that he might have this virus or Feline Leukaemia Virus because he had been suffering from severe recurrent mouth infections for some time. Over the next 4 years he responded very well to homeopathic treatment, requiring dentistry on occasions to help improve his oral hygiene, but little else. In late September 1998, Oscar was traumatised by the arrival of a baby in the house. He was a very timid cat, highly attached to his "Mum" and the displacement of his owner's affections, compounded by the dramatic changes of routine and increased noise levels in the house soon began to upset him. He spent more and more time away from the family, running away in a panic whenever the baby appeared. In October 1998 he developed a deep-seated penetrating infection all around the base of his tail, which required extensive surgery to removed the diseased tissue and prolonged medical treatment to clear. Two months later, an intensely itchy miliary eczema rash erupted all down his back. For the next 9 months Oscar had to wear a protective Elizabethan collar continually to prevent him from biting at himself. During this period he was treated with many homeopathic remedies and flower essences, which helped alleviate the intensity of his itching for short periods, but did not produce a sustained improvement. Over the next 8 months Oscar received four courses
of EFT. One month after finishing his last treatment Oscars' was able
to stop wearing his protective collar. He remained free of all skin eruptions
until January 2001 (13 months later) when itchy scabs started to reappear
along his back again - 3 weeks before Mrs Jones was due to give birth
to her second child! EFT was repeated at this stage and the eruptions
disappeared. Oscar has not had any problems since (now 12 months later)
and is described as having "never been better". He does not
suffer from recurrent oral infections, has become much less anxious and
is accepting the approaches and petting of both the children.
