Animals: Oliver "OLIVER" is a very strong-willed, 14-year-old Labrador Retriever. In mid January 2000, Oliver was pottering around the garden when he suddenly became paralysed in one of his back legs. For the next 6 weeks, despite being hospitalised, given large amounts of medication and receiving physiotherapy on a daily basis, he did not improve. His other back leg became too weak to support his weight, and he developed frequent bouts of bloody diarrhoea. When Oliver came for treatment he was so severely paraplegic that he could not stand on his back legs unaided. Being such a determined character, he was so insistent on trying to get about under his own steam that he had worn down the nails on his hind paws almost to the quick, and had rubbed his skin sore. His owner had been told that nothing else could be done for him. Oliver had two initial treatments with EFT, one in March and the other in April 2000. Within 1 month of the second course he was beginning to stand unaided on both his back legs for a few moments. After another 8 weeks he was able to walk around the garden unaided, only needing support when going for short walks. By this stage, all the sores on his legs had completely healed. Interestingly, his chronic cough, which was due to a partial paralysis of his vocal cords, had also improved by 50%. As the months went by, his hindlegs continued to strengthen, allowing him to remain standing for longer and longer periods. Oliver had further EFT in November 2000 to try and help his breathing problem. During the treatment sessions, each of which lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes, he remained standing the whole time!
