Animals: Finn "FINN" is a very gentle, 9-year-old Lurcher. Early in 1999 she began to yelp out occasionally, usually when she stood up after lying down for a while. On one occasion she "froze" for several hours, crying out in pain whenever she tried to move. As the months went by, she became very reluctant to go for walks and started to hold her neck in an arched position while walking on tiptoes. Her appetite became so poor that she needed a lot of encouragement in the form of hand feeding to start her eating. In November 1999, radiography of her spinal column did not reveal any significant abnormalities with either the vertebrae or the discs an inflammatory condition of the muscles and ligaments in the neck was diagnosed. As she had already been prescribed anti-inflammatory/painkiller medication which had not helped, EFT was undertaken. Finn was treated in December 1999 and again in February 2000. By the fourth session of the first course of treatment she had stopped holding her head in an arched position and wanted to run around the park! Within a week, she could shake her body from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail, which she had not done for so long that her owner had forgotten she used to do this! In the 2 months following, all the symptoms disappeared, she regained her "zest for life", her appetite improved considerably, and friends were reporting that she was "much livelier and happier". The second course of treatment was carried out to stabilise the improvement in the field and avoid any likelihood of a relapse. Finn has not had any further back problems since. Unfortunately, in early 2001 she developed a large splenic tumour, which had to be removed. Happily Finn recovered very well from the surgery, which removed the spleen and the tumour intact and she is now having EFT every 3 months to strengthen her immune system. Currently she is extremely well and is back to playing like a much younger dog!
