Animals: Charlie Just before Christmas 1999 Charlie, a retired, dignified Greyhound sustained a deep wound just inside his right shoulder. Surgical exploration revealed laceration of the pectoral muscles, which were trimmed and repaired. Radiography also demonstrated that Charlie had partially collapsed lungs as a result of his injury, but this healed with rest over the next few days. The other injuries healed uneventfully over the next few weeks and Charlie had no problems until August 2000, when he began to go lame in this leg during exercise. Sometimes he would yelp out in pain when he was running around off the lead and once he had started to limp it would last for the duration of the walk home. He was also stiff on this leg after he had been resting, but this would gradually wear off as he continued to move around. After the first course of EFT Charlie's lameness
disappeared for 2 months before it started to return. After the second
treatment it cleared up completely. As of writing he remains very well,
with a slight limp developing only on rare occasions when he has exercised
strenuously. Interestingly, Charlie's owners have noticed that he has
become much more relaxed when there are thunderstorms. Previously he would
be so terrified that he would cower and shake behind any furniture he
could manage to climb behind and would stay there for the rest of the
evening. Now he can be coaxed out with little effort and is happy to eat
and return to the living room as soon as the storm has passed, without
the customary shaking and shivering.
