Animals: Bella Bella, a very bouncy, vocal Flat Coated Retriever began scratching at a crop of itchy spots that appeared in October 1997. Over the next 3 years the intensity of her allergic dermatitis increased so much so, that she needed a cocktail of steroids, antibiotics, essential fatty acids, shampoos and local ear preparations to keep her comfortable. During this period she also had surgery to remove her anal sacs, surgery to remove a histiocytoma that appeared on her leg and a skin biopsy taken, which revealed a deep penetrating infection. The month before she came to our clinic she was also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland and a non-regenerative anaemia. Since the conclusion of the third course of EFT
in November 2000, Bella has not required any conventional medications
at all for skin problems. She still has the occasional appearance of an
itchy rash, but it is so mild that it resolves without treatment and without
Bella becoming too uncomfortable.
